Back in 1989, the United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) was founded in order to provide high quality non-standard insurance at low costs to Miami drivers. The company soon became profitable enough to offer non-standard insurance policies in the states of Illinois and Florida.
Today, their business has expanded to a dozen different states within the union as they strive to become the premier player in the non-standard insurance market.
How is the United Automobile Insurance company rated?
Before you invest in a company, especially an insurance company, you should take a good hard look at their reviews. Customer service reviews can help you decide which company will be there when you need them, while financial strength reviews can help consumers feel confident that any claims they file will be paid out. As recently as November 2016, UAIC’s financial strength rating with AM Best changed from a “C” to “NR (no rating)”. In the past, its customer satisfaction has been far less than ideal. Although it appears as though things may be improving in customer satisfaction, they still only have a 3.68 composite customer satisfaction score from the BBB.
Rating Agency | Rating |
AM Best Financial Strength Rating (2016) | NR |
NAIC Complaint Index (2012) | 3.71 (National Median 1.00) |
Better Business Bureau (2016) | A+ |
BBB Composite Score (2016) | 3.68 out of 5 stars |

What discounts are offered by United Auto Insurance?
While it’s true that most available discounts will vary by state, most companies at least try to publish some sort of data on the discounts you could be eligible for. Unfortunately, all information on available discounts for UAIC is exclusively available to their independent insurance agents. In order to know what auto policy discounts are offered in your area, as well as how much they could help you save, you’ll have to contact your local UAIC agent directly.
What options does United Automobile auto insurance offer?
One would assume that, if you request an auto insurance policy from UAIC, it will contain at least the types of products and amounts of coverage you need to drive legally in your state. Under most circumstances, this includes Property Damage and Bodily Injury Liability coverage with minimum policy limits. No-fault states will also require Personal Injury Protection or similar products. Also, non-standard insurance policies sometimes include SR-22 insurance products. To know which specific insurance products and coverages UAIC offers, however, you’re going to have to get in touch with a United Automobile Insurance agent near you as this information isn’t available online.
How can I compare United Auto insurance quotes?
Comparison shopping is essential when it comes to finding the right car insurance policy to meet your needs. Below, we have quotes from several popular companies, compared to the national average, in some of the most densely-populated driving areas:
Odds are that if you want a quote of your own from UAIC, you’re going to have to call an agent or perhaps even show up at a local office. If you decide to get one, make sure you compare it to the data about what you should be paying for monthly premiums and compare it to what the United Automobile Insurance Company is willing to offer you.

What are the pros and cons of United Automobile Insurance?
Pro | Con |
Offers non-standard insurance in 12 different states | Difficult to get quotes online |
In some markets, UAIC might be competitively priced for non-standard (or “high risk”) drivers | Their website content only contains helpful information for those who want to become a UAIC insurance agent |
From United Automobile Insurance’s troubled history with customer service satisfaction to its historically low financial strength ratings, there are some questions and issues to consider about the company before purchasing insurance products. However, United Auto Insurance is a non-standard insurance provider; for drivers who are in need of non-standard auto insurance, United Auto insurance may be one of only a few or perhaps even the only non-standard provider near you. If this is the case, then you may have no choice but to at least request a quote from United Auto.
Just make sure you get other fast, free quotes from other insurance companies so that you can put their quoted price in context.
