Currently, CSE operates in much of the Pacific Northwest and the Southwestern United States. Surprisingly, they also have offices in Virginia and Washington, D.C., all the way on the other side of the country. Despite their wide spread, however, they are currently only accepting new customers in the following states: Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. But if you live in one of those states and are currently shopping around for a better car insurance deal, then keep reading. You may learn something that could help you save hundreds on your auto insurance premiums each year.
CSE Insurance Review
It doesn’t matter whether you’re shopping for car insurance for the very first time, or whether you’ve been driving for years and want to know what other providers might have to offer. If you want a great deal from a good company, you have to make sure they have a strong financial rating as well as positive reviews with regard to customer service. It appears as though CSE insurance is strong in both of these categories based on the chart below.
Metric | Rating |
AM Best Financial Strength Rating (2016) | A- (Excellent) |
Better Business Bureau (2016) | A+ |
NAIC Complaint Index (2012) | 0.37 (National Index 1.00) |
CSE Insurance Discounts
Discounts are a way that companies entice new business and also save their customers money. What CSE lacks in discount variety, it appears as though the make up for with the sheer amount of money you can save per discount. With other providers, you might qualify for half a dozen discounts which save you a maximum of 5% each; but with CSE, you may qualify for:
Discount | % Savings |
Multi-Vehicle Discount | 24% |
Good Driving Discount | 20% |
Loyalty Discount | 20% |
Multi-Policy Discount | 17% |
Good Student Discount | 14% |
CSE Auto Insurance Options
CSE auto policies are noticeably lacking in frills. They pretty much offer exactly what you need, plus a few necessary extras such as:
- Liability coverage
- Personal injury protection (PIP) – no fault coverage
- Collision coverage
- Uninsured/underinsured motorist
- Comprehensive/Other Than Collision (OTC)
- Rental car/transportation expenses coverage
- Medical Coverage
- Roadside assistance with towing up to 100 miles
- Disappearing collision deductible
Comparing CSE Insurance Quotes
Your unique life circumstances are what insurance companies like to factor in when it comes to deciding on your final monthly premium. Your age, your marital status, and more can and will likely have a noticeable influence on your quote.
Take a look at the estimated rates in the chart above. Young drivers who don’t have as much driving experience (and are therefore much more likely to get into an accident) are paying more per month for their insurance policy than two senior-age drivers who are bundled onto the same policy together.

This is an example of how companies like CSE will raise or lower your rates based on the potential financial risk they take on when they underwrite your insurance policy.
Pros and Cons of CSE Insurance
Pro | Con |
Rewards Drivers with discounts for driving fewer | The only states where CSE does business at the moment are: AZ, CA, NV, UT, CO, OR, VA, WA, and Washington, D.C. |
Targeted discounts for civil and public employees | Currently only accepting new business in: AZ, CA, NV, and UT |
% Savings on available discounts are very generous | Very few discounts available |
Highly rated both in customer service and financial strength |
It’s a little unfortunate that CSE is only taking new customers in a handful of states because, unlike some auto insurance companies, CSE seems to have its act together as far as financial strength and customer service are concerned. And although they don’t offer quite as many discounts as some of their competitors might, the few discounts they do offer are pretty generous. But it looks as though CSE may be yet another automotive insurance provider looking for “preferred risk” drivers over every other demographic; so if you are young, have bad credit, more than one or two tickets on your record, or any other personal attribute that makes you a financial risk for your insurance company, you might not want to get your hopes up for the lowest possible quote from CSE. The only way to know that for sure, however, is to enter your zip code below and compare them to other providers near you.
