Diver safety is a huge concern for us here at AIEZ.com. It’s also a huge concern for car insurance companies. When driver safety becomes a secondary issue and traffic accidents begin to rise, especially fatal ones, everybody suffers. Our essay contest, in addition to helping the youth of America pay for a higher education, serves to raise awareness about this growing problem in our society.
In 2015, there were over 35,000 traffic-related deaths in the United States. Regardless of circumstances, the vast majority of lives lost can be attributed to driver safety (or, rather, a lack thereof). Unsafe habits such as drunk driving, speeding, driving-while-texting, and distracted driving are taking the lives of beloved family members and sending tragic ripple effects through local communities.
Many automotive insurance companies encourage driver safety with lucrative discounts, lower rates for safe drivers, and a push towards more driver training education. They are doing their part. But can local communities do more? Should we be doing more at the state level? And are there any steps that the federal government can take to make sure that dangerous driving stops taking so many lives? In your essay, try your best to tackle these important driver safety issues. All entries should be submitted to [email protected]. Our top picks will win scholarship money towards the school of their choice, and all of our winners (plus some honorable mentions) will have a chance to be featured on our website!
